Triethylenediamine or Triethylene Diamine, also know as DABCO (1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane), is an organic compound with the formula N2(C2H4)3. This white crystalline solid is a highly nucleophilic amine.  Triethylenediamine is used as a catalyst and reagent in polymerization and organic synthesis.

Triethylene Diamine is a high-purity crystalline catalyst for polyurethane foam applications. It consists of 99 wt.% (minimum) triethylenediamine on a water-free, amine base.

Usage and applications:

Triethylenediamine is used in all types of polyurethane foams including flexible slabstock, flexible molded, rigid, semi-flexible and elastomeric. Triethylene Diamine is also used in polyurethane coatings applications. Triethylenediamine will accelerate the reactions between the isocyanate and water and the isocyanate and organic hydroxyl groups.

In flexible slabstock foam systems, Triethylene Diamine can be used with a stannous octoate catalyst. In flexible molded systems, Triethylenediamine can be used with a blowing co-catalyst. In rigid systems, Triethylene Diamine is frequently used together with DMEA (dimethylethanolamine) catalyst.
